The Blade is the most common motorbike in Vietnam
The Honda semi-automatic is the most common motorbike type in Vietnam. Cheap to buy, cheap to maintain, and cheap to run with excellent gas efficiency. Drive-up the mountains into remote terrain, and Honda semi-automatics will be seen everywhere. Indestructible machines that can handle anything thrown at them.
The Blade never breaks down
Tigit’s warranty against breakdowns combined with only one oil change every 1000km means the Honda Blade should work out similar or on many occasions cheaper than trying to buy and sell a cheap backpacker motorbike! These are real Honda motorcycles, not Chinese copies that are found in the backpacker area.
The Blade has plenty of power
The Blade has enough power to carry two people and luggage across Vietnam without skipping a beat. Tigit offers more exciting motorbikes, but there is no need to get anything bigger or more powerful than these reliable and affordable machines.
The Honda Blade is easy to drive
Learning the basics of simple gear changes can be taught within 5 minutes. Please watch this video for more information on how to drive a semi-automatic.
The Honda Blade 110cc Rack
The pictures in the gallery are with an Enduristan 82L bag. The Blade comes equipped with an extended Givi Rack with a specification of 7KG maximum. They often break at the connection point under the seat (shown in the pictures). It is easy to weld these on route for around 2.5usd. It is essential to mount the bag as far forward as possible using the seat for support. The Blade can handle two people and luggage across any road in Vietnam. However, it is perhaps not the best motorbike for the job. Bags are best mounted horizontally not length ways, keeping the bag as far forward as possible.

Hello there,
I have few questions regarding routes and motorbikes I can use for them traveling in Vietnam.
I have two options:
First option: HCMC – Mekong Delta by motorbike (4 days) , then flight to Hue, rent a motorbike and stay there (Hue – Hoi An) till 17th of November, if you could recommend a nice, quite, less touristic beach over there (if not we were thinking about Phu Quoc) we would stay there untill 23rd of November.
Second option:
These are your routes described on your website (Saigon Loop: Purple – Green – Orange – Black).
Do I understood it correct? Can I make them all in about 6 – 7 days? Or have to calculate it like 3 days + 4 days + 5 days + 6 days?
If it is doable in 6-7 days, does it make sense to continue to Hoi An – Hue or better to come back to HCMC and take a flight to Hue?
Me and my wife will arrive on 4th of November in very early morning to HCMC, will stay there two days and would like to pick up the motorbike on 5th.
What motorbike will be the best for us in above described cases?
We will take a one big rucksack (50L +) and a small one.
Better option would be two rucksacks (35L each) on both sides racks – this is how we used to travel on Sri Lanka on Honda FMX 650.
Once again we will rent a motorbike (Honda Blade or XR if these are best in your opinion) for 12-13 days for sure or 19 days but this depends only on, if we will find a beach around Hoi An or Hue (“The One” 🙂 )
Our main subject is: to eat a lot, to discover (if possible avoiding beaten tracks) and just have fun 🙂
I will appreciate, if you would help me with all my quastions (prices included).
Thanks in advance,
Tomasz
Recommend the XR 150cc as it’s reliable and comfortable for 2 peopl with long distance travel
