The Blade is the most common motorbike in Vietnam

The Honda semi-automatic is the most common motorbike type in Vietnam. Cheap to buy, cheap to maintain, and cheap to run with excellent gas efficiency. Drive-up the mountains into remote terrain, and Honda semi-automatics will be seen everywhere. Indestructible machines that can handle anything thrown at them.

The Blade never breaks down

Tigit’s warranty against breakdowns combined with only one oil change every 1000km means the Honda Blade should work out similar or on many occasions cheaper than trying to buy and sell a cheap backpacker motorbike! These are real Honda motorcycles, not Chinese copies that are found in the backpacker area.

The Blade has plenty of power

The Blade has enough power to carry two people and luggage across Vietnam without skipping a beat. Tigit offers more exciting motorbikes, but there is no need to get anything bigger or more powerful than these reliable and affordable machines.

The Honda Blade is easy to drive

Learning the basics of simple gear changes can be taught within 5 minutes. Please watch this video for more information on how to drive a semi-automatic.

The Honda Blade 110cc Rack

The pictures in the gallery are with an Enduristan 82L bag. The Blade comes equipped with an extended Givi Rack with a specification of 7KG maximum. They often break at the connection point under the seat (shown in the pictures). It is easy to weld these on route for around 2.5usd. It is essential to mount the bag as far forward as possible using the seat for support.  The Blade can handle two people and luggage across any road in Vietnam. However, it is perhaps not the best motorbike for the job. Bags are best mounted horizontally not length ways, keeping the bag as far forward as possible.

  1. Hi Jon

We are travelling HCM to Hanoi from 23rd February to 19th March 2016 and will be buying a Honda Blade each, on buy back. When would you suggest we pay a deposit to hold them? Thanks

    1. Paying the deposit as soon as possible is a good idea. Until our stock catches up with demand we will remain short on bikes until mid 2017. Messaged in more detail via email.

  2. Hi,
Me and my friend are travelling through vietnam from hanoi to HCMC. We were planning to buy a motor or two and go from north- south. I have experience in driving a scooter in Indonesia but was wondering for such a long distance if it would be better to get a semiauto moto? Do we need to book in advance? Our traveldates would be between february and march. And whatv would be the costs?

    1. The semi-automatic is the simple and common choice. It will get you across the country without problems. Automatics are more expensive and there is much more room for things to go wrong. This is why we encourage people to use the semi instead of the auto.

For FEB you need to be careful of TET holiday which finishes on the 5th. Prices are on this page but will send a follow up email with more information.

  3. Hi!
I (solo driver) plan to rent a bike from 25th to 29th of November to drive Ho Chi Minh – Tan Chau – Phu Quoc – Can tho – Ho Chi Minh. Is it available any bike? What conditions?

    1. Yes it is possible.
The Honda blade is $10 a day.

Are you sure you want to travel the south? There are better places to go.

Also to get to Phu Quoc and back in 4 days is ambitious / impossible.
      Sent more information via email.

    2. Hi Jon, arriving in Hanoi on Jan 5th.
Will return the bike in HCM on Jan 18th.
Looking to rent a Honda Blade for the trip.
Can I get a quote, and would you have a reliable route map to share?
      Thanks, Jerome

  4. Hi,

My girlfriend and I are arriving in HCMC and looking to buy/rent 2 honda blades from you from October 13- November 10th/ish. Will you have any in stock? Once we get into HCMC should we stop by your shop?

    Jonas

    1. We have a constant rotation of motorbikes but at the moment running short in both Hanoi and Ho Chi Minh. To guarantee bikes it is a good idea to deposit in advance. Details have been sent to your email explaining further.

  5. Hi there,

Planning to ride from HCMC to Hanoi from 31st Oct 2016 to 25th Nov 2016. Will you have any Blades in stock for these dates? I’m going solo so will only need 1.

Also just wondering what forms of payment do you accept? Cash? Paypal? USD or VND only? I saw a mention about British Pounds for transferwise in the rental contract.

    Cheers,
    Donald

    1. Just read your buyback policy and there was info on that about payment and currencies, so no need to answer that part. Thanks!

    2. Hi,
A more detailed payment PDF has been sent by email.
      Thanks for the inquiry.
